Why Did the FBI Label Ryan Shapiro’s Dissertation on Animal Rights a Threat to National Security?

ryan shapiroView video of Ryan’s interview HERE

Source: Democracy Now

Over the past decade, Ryan Shapiro has become a leading freedom of information activist, unearthing tens of thousands of once-secret documents. His work focuses on how the government infiltrates and monitors political movements, in particular those for animal and environmental rights. Today, he has around 700 Freedom of Information Act requests before the FBI, seeking around 350,000 documents. That tenacity has led the Justice Department to call him the “most prolific” requester there is — in one year, two requests per day. It has also led the FBI to claim his dissertation research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology would “irreparably damage national security.” Shapiro discusses his methodology in obtaining government documents through FOIA requests, and the details that have emerged therein about the crackdown on animal rights activists.

Is There No Room for Rod Coronado in the Animal Rights Movement? The Problem with Veganism as the Moral Baseline

Source: Uncivilized Animals

It is almost difficult to believe that the accomplishments of Rod Coronado can all be attributed to a single person with abilities not too different than our own; in this way he has demonstrated what is possible.  It does not take superhero powers to sink a whaling ship, light a match, or set an animal free from a cage.  It does, of course, take a fair amount of bravery to put one’s beliefs into action but that is well within our abilities.

Hard Time Vegan: An Ex-Prisoner’s Story

Next month (April 2014) will be my eight-year Veganniversary. From 2010 through 2012, I served just under two years in Illinois prisons. Aside from a few accidents based on false information, I stayed vegan in County Jail, in Receiving (24-hour lockdown), for my 18 months in the high-minimum-security Jacksonville Correctional Center, and my three months in the medium-security “Disciplinary Prison,” Logan Correctional Center. You may be surprised to find that, overall, it wasn’t at all hard to be vegan, even in Midwestern-U.S. prisons!

Ding Dong! Gertie Block is dead….

wwpby Ron Roberts

Today, in defiance of the feeble attempts of the nefarious Matthew Block to stop us, eleven dedicated activists went to the home of his mother, long time Worldwide Primates corporate officer Gertie Block. After about a half hour, where we exposed the horrific moral crimes of this family and chanted loudly to give voice to the tens of thousands of their victims, we were approached by one of her neighbors. He began by telling us he understands our cause and agrees with us. He then said that he wanted to make us aware that Gertie Block passed away a week and a half ago.

A UF Monkey named “BOOGER”

Thanks to an ALF raid in the 1970s, this image of a monkey inside a UK lab was made public. The name “CRAP” tattooed on his forehead epitomized the indignities and degradation to which vivisectors gleefully subject their victims… And now in a throwback to this pitiful little primate, meet “BOOGER” courtesy of the University of Florida…

Source: Eleventh Hour for Animals

On January 10, 2002, capuchin monkey 120V (along with his four brothers) was sold into slavery at the University of Florida from the now-defunct Primate Products Inc. in Miami. Documents indicate that UF determined that all but one of these individuals arrived inside their labs already compromised and infected with rubella (German measles). Monkeys living in the wild do not contract measles. This infection is exclusive to nonhuman primates forced to live in captivity and is sometimes fatal. However, left wholly untreated inside UF, little 120V and his 3 brothers are regularly documented as still living with this infection over a decade later. Sometime after his enslavement, sick little 120V was light-heartedly baptized “BOOGER” by vivisector Raymond Joseph Bergeron who continues to get rich from his victims’ misery and blood.

Eradicating Human Supremacy – a 269life action

speciesism is racism

Today, as a part of 269life’s 5th international event, a provocative bloodletting demo took place outside Susan Delal Center in Tel Aviv. In the event, a luxurious white table was placed in the center of the public square. 8 diners sat by the table; 4 men and 4 women, all wearing white and with misshapen masks covering their faces. A minotaur figure (half man, half bull) walked around while furiously cutting into their bodies. Waiters, dressed in white, served the anonymous diners with meat (plant based), the diners bled into their own wine glasses. Quickly the dinner turned into a blood bath, once the minotaur started the blood ritual, by pouring the diners own blood onto their plates. Once the diners started to faint from the blood loss, the waiters appeared again, this time dragging the diners away from the dinner table and wrapping them in plastic.
